Departmental Activities for the Academic Year 2023-2024

 

Helapuri Vesavi Utsavam…Dr. Mahalakshmi & Dr.Aruna at Prize distribution ceremony and Dr.Aruna receiving the I Prize for Padya Patanam Competition.

1. Helapuri Vesavi Utsavam : On 30th April,2023, all the Social Organizations and Cultural Committees, along with Educational Institutions of Eluru City conducted  one day camp named Helapuri Vesavi  Utsavam for Children from near by villages of  5 to 10 years age and Students of different Educational Institutions and women of different age groups. Ch.S.D.St.Theresa’s College for women was the venue for the same. Dr. Mrs. Ch. V. Mahalakshmi, HOD of Telugu and Hindi and Dr.K Aruna, Lecturer in Telugu were the Co-ordinators for the camp. During this Camp the ogranizers conducted different cultural events like Dance (group & Solo),Singing ( group & Solo), Story telling (forWomen), Fancy Dress, Musical Instruments and so on. Dr.Mrs.Arumna received I Prize in PadyalaPatana Competition and II Prize in Sweeya Anubhavam Competition.

2.Orientatin Programme 3 rd July 2023.

Telugu and Hindi Departments of Ch.S.D.St.Theresa’s College for Women(A) , under the able guidance of Pricipal Dr.Sr.Mercy organized and Orientataion Programme for  first year students  and parents on 3rd July ,2023. Principal ,Dr. Sr. Mercy , explained about State of art, Infrastructure, extra- curricular activities. She informed about the rules and moral Values of the College and suggested the students to follow the culture of the college. Vice principal Sr. Maria Christia, explained the importance of the attendance, and regulation system followed in the college. She requested the parents to be vigilant in students’ academics and approach.

   Controller of examinations, Sr. Suseela explained about the College Autonomy System, and conducting of Examinations. After that various Heads of the Departments, explained about NSS,NCC, Sports& Games, various types of Scholarships available in , as well as the  information and how to apply for them.





3. An International conference on "Diasporic Literature: Different Approaches" was organized by the Dept of Telugu and Hindi, CH.S.D.ST.THERESA’S COLLEGE FOR WOMEN (A), Eluru In collaboration with GINA DEVI RESEARCH INSTITUTE, Bhiwani on 2nd Aug, 2023.

         The main aim of this multi- lingual conference was to bring together leading   writers, academicians, researchers, practitioners, and students to exchange experiences and learnings of different languages and sources. Dr. Ch. V. Mahalakshmi Head, Department of Hindi and Telugu and Coordinator of the conference gave a brief note on colloquium. Rev. Mother Ernestine Fernandes Correspondent and Superior of the college wished and blessed the organizers for initiating this program in multilingual and blended mode. Founding Sisters of St. Ann's from Italy with a vision started the college to educate women. Celebrating platinum Jubilee this year and having this diasporic themed conference is more apt to honor the blessings of our founding Sisters of Italy.

Mr. Tejendra Sharma keynote speaker London settled Indian and internationally acclaimed for his "Shanti" that was telecasted in Dur darshan spoke about Hindi diasporic literature. Mr. Deepak Pandey Asst. Director of Central Hindi Board spoke that it is our responsibility to save our cultural roots through writing for future generations. Diasporic Literature is the living proof that language, lifestyle and place may change but not the cultural roots. Dr. Anita Kapoor of America highlighted about the Western dimension of American settled Indians who were fighting every day to accustom to alienated cultural and lifestyle.

Participants like Mr. Rakesh Sharma of Ukraine, MS Sneha Bharathi from Nepal and 300 participants from different parts of world made the Conference a grand success. Principal Dr. Sr. Mercy. P, Vice-Principal Sr. Christia, Controller of Exams and PG Directress Sr. Suseela appreciated the organizing committee Dr. Mahalakshmi, Head, Department of Telugu Hindi, Mrs. Aruna Jhansi Rani, Dr. K. Aruna, Mrs. Bhavani.





        4.On 29th August 2023, Department of Telugu and Hindi Celebrated Telugu Language Day. Mrs Brahmeswari , Rtd Lecturer in History and former HOD of Social Sciences dept was the chief guest.   Gidugu Ramamurthy’s birth anniversary is celebrated as the Telugu Language Day, the pioneer of the vernacular movement and multifaceted genius. Mrs Brahmeswari sad tht  Gidugu has worked tirelesslesy to bring tTelugu literature closer to the common man. Mr Gidugu Ramamurthy has taken up hs career as ateacher , has fulfilled various responsibilities related to education. Mrs Brahmeswari said that the mother tongue leads the way of a nation’s progress. She acvised  the students to protect our Telugu language and lead it in the path of development. Prizes were given to the winners of the Telugu songs, essay writing, one mnute Telugu and Poem recitation competitions organied as part of the Telugu Language Day celebratins.




5.On Sep 12 SETWEL organization has organized District level Youth festival at Ch.S.D.St.Theresa’s College for Women(A),Eluru. Dr.Ch.V.Mahalakshmi, HOD, Dept of Telugu and Hindi Acted as Coordinator for Youth Festval. Dr.Ch.V.Mahalakshmi and Mrs.Aruna, Jhansi Rani Judged the Essay Writing Competition Conducted by SETWEL Authorities.

6. Department of Languages Celebrated Hindi Diwas with great enthusiasm on 14th September 2023 at 9 am in college auditorium. The Day was organized to encourage students to enhance their knowledge and develop love for Hindi Language. Nearly 1500 students and 100 staff from various departments were present. Ms Iswarya and Farah Tabussum of II BSc ZNC highlighted the rich History and tradition of Hindi Language through Power Point Presentation.

 On this Occasion Dr.Ch.V.Mahalakshmi, HOD , Dept of Languages  explained the job opportunities of Hindi  Language learners in different fields. She addressed the students about the importance of Hindi Language and Literature. Sr.Maria Christia ,Vice Principal of the College addressed the students that “This Day is celebrated to promote and spread the culture and Importance of Hindi”.She also advised the students to read Hindi Books and watch Hindi Programs to improve their knowledge of Hindi.


7. On Sep 23th ,2024 Department of Telugu and Hindi in Collaboration with Sri Bhagavan Sathya Sai Organization, Conducted Essay Writing Competition to the Students on the topic..Man making Education. Nearly 50 Students participated.




8. Dr.Ch.V.Mahalakshmi, HOD of Hindi & Telugu, Edited and Compiled and a book named Gadya Sanchayan, A Hindi  Text Book cum material for all the I -Year, I Semester General Hindi Course as per CBCS guidelines of APSCHE, published under Dept of Hindi of Ch.S.D.St.Theresa’s College for Women (A), Eluru. It was released on 14.10 2023 during the IMRF Seminar by Prof Ratnakar, CEO IMRF.


9. International Seminar Proceedings on the topic “Diasporic Literature:  Different Aspects” which was Published in the Journal Bohal Sodh Manjusha, August, Volume-2023, was released by Rev. Mother Earnistine Fernandes, Superior & Correspondent, Principal Dr.Sr.Mercy, Vice. Principal Sr. Maria Christia, Sr Suseela, Controller of Examinations and HODs of Various Departments on 1st Dec 2023.





10.On December, 3rd 2023, Dr Ch. Mahalakshmi, HOD, Department of Telugu and Hindi, released II Sem Gen Hindi Text book, with APSCHE Syllabus compiled and edited by her.





11. Bharateeya Bhasha Utsav: 11 th December 2023.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has written a letter to all higher education institutions in the county to celebrate every 11th December as “Bharateeya Bhasha Utsav”. 11th December is the birth anniversary of Mahakavi Subrahmania Bharathi, a legendary Tamil poet and freedom fighter. Bharathi was multilingual and had learnt Hindi and Snskrit during his stay in Kasi.

         The letter suggested the institutions to ogranise a variety of events and activities to promote language harmony and awareness among students. It is to be held under Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (75 years of Indepdendence) initiatives.

   As a part of Bharateeya Bhasha Utsav, the Department of Hindi and Telugu celebrated the birth Anniversary of Mahakavi Subrahmanya Bharathi. Dr. Mrs. Ch. V. Mahalakshmi, HOD, Telugu and Hindi, Explained the theme of Bharateeya Bhasha Utsav to the students.

Miss Kashish from I BBA, presented the life History and milestones in the life of Subrahmania Bharathi to the students through a PPT.

            In this regard, the department of Telugu and Hindi arranged an exhibition of Telugu Literature, famous poets of Telugu and their works. Faculty explained the students about the greatness and profoundness of Telugu Language.



 





12. Department of Telugu and Hindi, During the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, Directed and Motivated the students of II BSc, Web Tech to perform a skit named Interview Buddies. Through this the students enhanced the Interviews faced by the youth in present scenario.

13.On 20th December,2024, a Guest Lecture on Uniqueness of Telugu Language and Literature was Conducted by The Department Telugu and Hindi. Guest Speakers were Dr. V. V. Raghavamma, Rtd Telugu Lecturer, and Dr. P. Bhagyalakshmi, Rtd. HOD, Department of Telugu and Hindi. Dr.Mrs.V.V.Raghavamma explained that Telugu Language is one of the Six Classical Languages (others being Sanskrit, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Odiya), and it is the Second Most Spoken Language in India. Dr. Mrs, Bhagyalakshmi said that Telugu is the only language in the Eastern World, that has every single word ending with a vowel sound. Telugu is the sweetest language of India and also Known as the Italian of East. Once Viswa Kavi Rabindranath Tagore said “is it a language or music”. The language just sounds so beautiful that poets of other languages often write in Telugu.




14. On 12thJan 2024, The department of Telugu and Hindi Conducted Sankranthi Sambaraalu as part of Triple Celebrations in the Campus. National Youth Day and Ethnic Day and Sankranthi Sambaraalu are the Triple Celebrations. Dr. Ch. V. Mahalakshmi, HOD, Dept of Telugu and Hindi explained the Uniqueness and Importance of Sankranthi to the gathering.


15. On 23rd January, 2024, BOS meeting was conducted for the II Semester,2023-2024 Batch. Dr. Y Purnachandra Rao, Telugu Lecturer, PB Siddhartha College, University Nominee, Sri Medasaani SrinivaasaRao, Telugu Lecture, Sir CRR College as Subject Expert, for UG Telugu Board. Dr.Y. Poornachandra Rao, Rtd Telugu Lecturer as University Nominee, Sri KVND Vara Prasad Rao, Adi Kavi Nannaya University, as Subject Expert for PG Telugu BOS Board. Dr. K Sumithra , Lecturer in Hindi, Sir CRR College, as University Nominee and Dr. K. Neeraja from SKR College, Rajahmundry, participated as Subject Expert for Hindi BOS.

16. On 17th Feb, 2024, Academic Council was conducted online for UG Telugu (II & IV Sem)        Hindi (II Sem) and PG (IV Sem) Telugu.


17.  International Mother Tongue Day: On 21st February, 2024, the Department of Hindi and Telugu conducted, International Mother Tongue Day.  International Mother Tongue Day is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural Unity.  It was first proclaimed by UNESCO  and later adopted by UN General Assembly  underscores the role of Languages in promoting inclusion and achieving sustainable development goals. Multilingual education--a pillar of learning abd intergenerational learning”, are crucial for inclusive education and the preservation of indigenous language. Students of II BA THP Explained the Importance of Mother tongue and its role in a student’s education. Students from different states explained the greatness of their mother tongue.

1. On 30th June, Dr. Mrs. K Aruna and Mrs. N Bhavani attended as External Examiners for Subject Viva conducted for II Year History and Economics students.

 4. Mrs N. Bhavani, Lecturer in Telugu received Copy right for her Poetry book           Chigurutakulu from Art of India on 31.7.23.

Mahalakshmi, HOD, Hindi and Telugu Participated in Veeron ka Vandan Programme Celebrated by College NCC Unit on 15th Aug 2024, under the guidance of NCC Officer Major Dr. P.M Celine Rose, and gave a talk on Prime Minister’s Meri Maati..Mera Desh under Veeron Ka Vandan Programme . Mrs N Bhavani, Lecturer in Telugu Paarticipated in Veeron Ka Vandan Programme Organised by College NSS Units and paidtributes to the Veer Javaan Kanukollu Sathishkumar through her oration.

5. Dr.Ms K.Aruna , lecturer in Telugu received PH.D Degree from Sri Patteti Rajasekhar, Vice Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University in 40th Convocation on 29.8.2023

6. Dr.Ch.V. Mahalakshmi, HOD, Department of Telugu and Hindi has attended the Board of studies Meeting as Subject Expert in the Department of Hindi on 30.08.2023 in   KBNCollege,Vijayawada.

7. On 3rd Sep,2023 Dr K Aruna, Lecturer in Telugu has received District Best teacher Award from Private Lecturers and Teachers Organization.

8. Dr.Ch.V.Mahalakshmi, HOD, Department of Hindi participated in an International Multi lingual Conference and Presented a Paper at ST.Joseph’s College for Women (A), Visakhapatnam11. 










9. On 29th September, 2023, Dr.K Aruna, Lecturer in Telugu Participated in 6th Rashtreeya Poshan Maah Programme conducted at Collectorate, Eluru and gave a Lecture on Saadhikaara Bharath.

10. On 13 and 14th October, 2023, The members of the Dept of Telugu and Hindi participated in an International Conference, conducted By IMRF in collaboration with Ch.S.D. St.Theresa’s College for Women(A), Eluru.

 

11. Dr.Mrs.K.Aruna received Dr. Boyi Bheemanna Memorial National Award for her services to Telugu Language and Literature from Ushodaya Foundation, Bhakarapet, Tirupathi Dist , on 15th October ,2023.

 

12. Dr. Mrs.Ch.V. Mahalakshmi acted as Chief Superintendent for II Sem from 24th April to 5th May 2023 and III and V Semester Examinations from 1st to 23rd November 2024.


13.Dr. Mrs.Ch.V.Mahalakshmi, HOD of Hindi and Telugu attended UG BOS meeting of department of Hindi, Sri Y.N.College, Narasapur, as the Subject Expert held on 18-10-2023, at 3 pm Online mode.

14.On Nov. 11th 2023, Dr. K. Aruna received Sahithee Sudha Award from Akshara Arts, Eluru for her Literary works

15.Mrs. N. Bhavani, Lecturer in Telugu, participated as Chief Guest and delivered a speech on the topic “ Greatness of Telugu Language--Impact on Future Generations” at Helapuri Lions Club on 26th Nov. 2023.

17. Mrs. Y. Aruna Jhansi Rani, Lecturer in Telugu acted as Judge for the competition One Minute Telugu conducted by Sir CRR College, Eluru, on 11th Jan 2024.

20. On 16th Februaty2024, Dr.K Aruna Undergone a Training Programme On Traffic Rules Conducted at Police Superintendent’s Office by the District Police Authorities. On 17th Feb,2024, Dr. K Aruna, Explained the Traffic Rules and Acts and Advantages to the    Students.

21.  From 1st March to 16th March, Dr.Ch. V. Mahalakshmi, HOD, Department of Telugu and Hindi, attended as Chief Superintendent for Intermediate Public Examinations.
